I'm getting an error message about the .NET framework. What do I do?

OR

I installed the screen saver, but it isn't working. What do I do?

OR

The screen appears to flash, but no images are showing. What do I do?

This is because your computer is not up to date with the latest Microsoft framework.

  1. To fix these problems, please download and install the latest .NET framework from Microsoft here.
  2. Once you have downloaded and installed the Microsoft .net framework, you’ll need to UN-INSTALL the screensaver.
  3. To do so, open "My Computer" and navigate to c:\windows\system32
  4. Find the filename, walkinthewordscreensaver.scr and delete it.
  5. Now follow the instructions to re-install the screensaver.
  6. You’re all set!

I use a Mac computer, can I use this screen saver?
Unfortunately, this screen saver only works on PC based computers. If you downloaded the screensaver and use a Mac computer, please contact our Customer Service for a refund (customerservice@walkintheword.com).

How do I install the screen saver?

  • Click on the DOWNLOAD NOW button located at the top of this page. A window will open called 'file download' asking you if you want to open or save this file.
  • Click on OPEN. A window will open with a folder in it named 'screensaver'.
  • Double click on the screensaver folder to open it. There will be two files: ‘run.bat’ and ‘WalkinTheWordScreenSaver.scr’
  • Double click on the file named ‘run.bat’
    o A window opens called Compressed (zipped) Folder Warning recommending that you first extract all files
    o Click on EXTRACT ALL
    o An Extraction Wizard window opens
    o Click NEXT, NEXT, and FINISH to extract all files
    o The Extraction Wizard window closes
  • Double click on the screensaver folder to open it.
    o There will be two files: ‘run.bat’ and ‘WalkinTheWordScreenSaver.scr’
  • Double click on the file named ‘run.bat’
  • Click RUN
  • The screensaver is now installed on your machine.

How do I get my computer to use the new screen saver?
Your computer has more than one screen saver installed. You can easily change the one you want to use:

  • Click on the START button
  • Click on SETTINGS (some versions of windows do not have this, proceed to the next step)
  • Click "CONTROL PANEL ", a window opens called Control Panel
  • Double Click "DISPLAY", a window opens called Display Properties
  • Click on the Screen Saver Tab. In the middle of the window is a drop down box which lists all the screen savers installed on your computer
  • Select the screensaver named ‘WalkinTheWordScreenSaver’
  • The "wait" setting specifies how long your computer should wait before starting the screen saver.
  • Once you have made your changes, you may click the preview button to see what the screen saver will look like
  • If everything works properly, click the "Ok" button to save your changes.

I ran the "run.bat" file, but I don't see 'WalkInTheWordScreenSaver' listed as a choice in my list of screen savers
You can manually install the screen saver by following these steps:

  • Click on my computer
  • Navigate to: C:\Windows\System32\
  • Copy the 'WalkInTheWordScreenSaver.scr' file to this location
